What do you do to organize?

I have always wished that I was more of an organized person. I try to organize and plan on doing this for the next few days. I woke up early this morning and started. Is it me or does it seem like the bigger place you have, the more junk and stuff you accumulate? I feel as if I never have enough space for all my stuff. So, I am now in the mindset of if I have not used it in the past 6 months, in the trash it goes. I do have all my beads organized in cases where screws usually go. I think this works best for me. It's other stuff that I need to get in order. I would love for ya'll to share your organizational tips. How do you organize? What do you do?

I used to live in a fairly big home, I've had to downsize since I moved into a townhouse in the city. I HAVE to be organized in such a small space! Especially cuz there are 4 of us in my family and 3 furry kids!

The best thing I ever did was buy plain white storage cabinets from Walmart. It's amazing what they'll hold. I changed the door handles on them from the plastic ones they came with and they look just fine. Inside of those I have decorative boxes from Ikea that are labeled with what's in them.

The 'formal dining room' became my work area because I wanted to be in the center of the 'goings on' in the house instead of in a corner in my basement! So, I had to be organized here!

But, if you were to look in my basement right now, you'd soon get the bigger picture of how my upstairs space stays relatively organized. It's a complete dumping ground for all things! I try to purge once a year, but what if I need this or that down the road? lol

Good luck with your organizing!

Btw... thank you so much for adding me to your 'following' list! I'm starting to feel a little less lonely in blog world! ;o)

Best Wishes,
Dawn

A place for everything and everything in its place.
Also, for the past two years I have been getting rid of things I no longer need. I long for minimalism surrounding me. You'd never think that, looking at my home, but I want to have less, not more.
Having less, materialistically, is releasing.
